Brian Hackett, Scotia Bank Branch Manager is the new president of the Lusignan Golf Club following elections held Saturday at the Clubhouse at Lusignan Village, East Coast Demerara.
Hackett, who served two terms as treasurer was elected unopposed at the club’s Annual General Meeting.
He replaces Lester Alvis who resigned shortly after being elected last year to take up a work appointment in St. Lucia.
Vice president is Patrick Prashad who previously served as Club Captain.
William Walker retained his position as secretary with Troy Codogan being elected the treasurer and Andre Cummings the assistant secretary/treasurer.
Troy Peters and Mike Gayadin retained their positions as Public Relations Officer and Grounds Superintendent respectively.
The new club captain is Brian Glasford.
Maurice Solomon and Associates will serve as auditors.
Hackett in brief remarks to members said that the new executive would be embarking on an extensive membership drive.
“We need to see the club grow and to get more people involved in playing golf locally,” he said.
Earlier this year, the club embarked on a junior development programme which has 12 students currently enrolled.
Walker in delivering the president’s report said the club was getting stronger.
According the Walker the LGC was in a strong financial position as well and plans are in place to make it even better.
The returning officer was Kashir Khan.
