Dear Editor,
Hanuman Jayanti (yesterday) is observed very significantly in the Hindu religious calendar for devotees to reflect on the life of the ultimate teacher, Hanumanji. The life of Hanumanji is service to the Lord, what Hindus hope to achieve in their lifetime. As important as that day is to all Hindus the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabha’s Kala Milan programme on NCN on Sunday Evening and repeated yesterday morning found it more important to plug its coming Bollywood shows in Guyana. The programme almost completely was devoted to promoting the artistes and seeking patronage to an event that like so many others put on by that organisation has very little to do with Hindu teachings but everything for money making. But, for whose benefit? Are Dharmic principles being fostered? Is it any wonder that many Hindus are confused when their leaders appear to be?
Yours faithfully,
