PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Discarded Trinidad and Tobago batsman Runako Morton put his legal woes behind him to strike a century and fire Queen’s Park to a 71-run victory over Wanderers in the sixth round of matches in the Premiership Division here Sunday.
The right-hander, who appeared in court last month on drug possession charges, hit an aggressive 131 as Queen’s Park rattled up 294 in their second innings to set Wanderers 279 to win.
Barbados all-rounder Dwayne Smith then snatched four for 51 with his medium pace to oust Wanderers for 207.
Queen’s Park had been led on first innings, bowled out cheaply for 193 with Wanderers responding with 209.
Discarded West Indies wicketkeeper Denesh Ramdin was also among the runs, pummeling 123 for Trinidad and
Tobago Electricity Commission as they drew with defending champions PowerGen.
Lifted by Ramdin’s knock, T&TEC were dismissed for 219 but they quickly sent PowerGen tumbling for 126 with Guyanese off-spinner Steven Jacobs snaring five for 46.
Jacobs then stroked an unbeaten 35 while Jason Mohammed got 69 not out, to help T&TEC to 150 for four declared.
Set 244 to win, PowerGen closed on 107 for seven with Jacobs taking two for 42.
