Septuagenarian Ray Anthony, alias ‘Rambo’, admitted to a charge of break and enter and larceny yesterday at the New Amsterdam Court but Magistrate Adela Nagamootoo remanded the prisoner and postponed sentencing until May 6.
The 75-year-old pensioner of Mount Sinai, commonly referred to as Angoy’s Avenue, a squatting area on the eastern fringes of New Amsterdam, went to the home of Razeena Budhoo and stole gold jewellery and cash totalling $41,000.
Police said the complainant had secured her home before leaving for the New Amsterdam market where she is a vendor but on her return hours later found that the padlock on her door was broken and the articles missing.
Investigations led to Anthony who was then arrested and charged.
