Yesterday the Food for the Poor presented a quantity of household appliances to several orphanages and churches at its Festival City office.
The recipients were Joshua House, Camal Home, Save R Kids, Ruimveldt Children’s Home, Bless the Children, Mahaica Children’s Home, Bright Horizon, St John’s Bosco Orphanage, Redeemer Lutheran Church, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and Queenstown Food For the Poor committee feeding programme.
According to Elaine Grannum of the Redeemer Lutheran Church, the church is “very appreciative” of the donation. She stated that the church received a refrigerator. The donation she stated will help in the storage of items for use in the preparation of meals for the church’s feeding programme.
Grannum noted that the church’s refrigerator was not working and rusted.
The donation is part of the organisation’s mandate to assist the poor and least fortunate, a release stated.
