Garden Land Nursery, along Brickdam, was robbed on Monday night.
According to a female manager, who asked not to be named, it was the latest robbery over the last three to four weeks. The woman further stated that she had made no previous complaint of the matter but finally wanted to publicise the situation since the stolen articles are being sold.
“I want people to know that the items they are buying are stolen goods,” she stated. “If there are no buyers then perhaps this wouldn’t happen so often. It’s almost like this place belongs to them [the thieves],” she added.
According to the woman, five plant pots, valued at $4,500, were yesterday morning discovered missing along with a few plants. Reliable sources, she continued, informed her that these goods are being sold at the Stabroek Square by persons she described as “junkies” who are working for an individual known as ‘Plant Man’. This man, she said, can be found at Leopold and Cross streets, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown. “Just ask for ‘Plant Man’ and you’ll find him,” she stated. A police report was made but the police had not made contact with the management up to when this newspaper visited the scene yesterday.
The woman recalled last week’s attack, saying that the brought a dog to safeguard the premises but it was beaten by the thieves.
