Former national champion, Wendell Meusa, and current senior national champion Taffin Khan are joint leaders after three rounds of the Caribbean Container Inc., Easter Chess tournament.
According to a press release from the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF), both Khan and Meusa won all three of their matches to accumulate the maximum points in the tournament which is being held at the Kei-Shar’s Sports Club on Hadfield Street.
Pierre Boucher with two and a half points from two wins and a draw, occupies the third position while current president of the GCF, Shiv Nandalall follows with one and a half points.
Alex Joseph has one point.
David Khan, Haatram Parbat and Chino Chung are yet to get off the mark after suffering losses in all three of their matches.
In the junior category, current schools national champion, Sue-Hai Feng, from the North Georgetown Secondary, leads with the maximum four points from four wins.
Anthony Drayton from the Government Technical Institute follows with three points, gained from three wins and one loss.
Also with three points is Rashad Hussain of Mae’s Secondary School while Saeed Ali of Richard Ishmael Secondary has two points.
The seven round tournament is set to be completed this weekend at the same venue with the presentation of prizes expected to follow immediately.
