NEW DELHI, (Reuters) – Opener Sunny Sohal struck a fluent half-century as Deccan Chargers beat hosts Delhi Daredevils by 16 runs for their second victory in the Indian Premier League yesterday.
Opting to bat first, the Chargers lost opener Shikhar Dhawan in the second over but Sohal (62) forged a 92-run stand with skipper Kumar Sangakkara (49) and Cameron White chipped in with an unbeaten 31 to power them to 168 for four.
The Daredevils suffered a major blow in the second over of their reply when Harmeet Singh removed Delhi captain Virender Sehwag.
Australian David Warner battled to 51 and Yogesh Nagar (23) threw his bat during an 11-ball stay at the end of the innings but Delhi finished short on 152 for seven.
The other match between hosts Royal Challengers Bangalore and Rajasthan Royals was called off due to steady rain with both sides taking one point each.
Deccan Chargers are now fifth in the table with two wins from five games while Delhi languish at the bottom with just one victory from four.
