The preliminary inquiry (PI) into the carnal knowledge charge against Chandra Narine Sharma was on Friday set for June 9 for continuation since the order which was previously granted to him by the High Court allowing him to seek overseas medical treatment has expired.
Prosecutor Sonia Joseph attached to the Chambers of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) applied for the adjournment. Sharma had been granted leave by the High Court to travel overseas for medical treatment and the PI into the matter, which had already started, had to be stalled.
Joseph told the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court on Friday that the order has since expired and the prosecution is ready to proceed with
