Teen forged CXC certificate in seeking job

An 18-year-old female was yesterday placed on $80,000 bail after she appeared before Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton for allegedly forging a CXC certificate in order to obtain employment.

Orian Smith was not required to plead to the indictable charge which read that on April 18, in Georgetown, she forged one CXC Certificate 0900670444, purporting to show that she had passes in seven subjects, grades three and two; with intent to obtain employment at Metro Office and Computer Supplies, knowing same to be forged.

As there were no objections from the prosecutor, the unemployed Vryheid’s Lust resident was granted bail in the sum of $80,000 and the matter adjourned until May 25.
