Dear Editor,
Permit me space in your column to share my view on a sport topic, i.e. changing the football rule from a throw in to a kick in.
I played a little football during the 60s and 70s with Broadway and Botofago clubs of Linden.
I also refereed a few junior matches with the Upper Demerara Football Association (U.D.F.A). One of the many rules I questioned even to this day, is the throw in by hands when the ball crosses the side line(s). I always wish that one day the authority on the rules of football would see it fit to change that rule from throw in by the hands, to kick in from the side line(s). In that way, only the goal keeper would be lawfully able to handle the ball.
This is a thought for the future.
Yours faithfully,
Winslow Parris
