This week we asked the man and woman in the street how they planned to spend the Easter weekend. Their comments follow:
Ulric Bourne, public sector employee: ‘On Easter Monday I plan to take a walk in the park then later head over to the Joe Vieira Park for the Jah Vinci and Popcaan Show. I don’t have any plans for Saturday and Sunday, might just hit the seawalls. Other than that, I’ll just be relaxing at home.’
Odessa Forde, public sector employee: ‘I’ll probably go to the park and have a picnic. I don’t really keep track of events so I don’t really have any plans for the weekend but on Easter Monday, I use the time to catch up with my family.’
Dorian Obermuller, designer: ‘I will be spending Easter with my friends and family. We’ll probably go to the seawalls during the day and fly kites since it’s a family time. Concerts are not really my thing. However, I will be going to the after parties. That after party is
usually real hot.
That is the height of my night for me but what I’m looking forward to the most is spending the Easter vacation with my family and friends.’
Rihanna Trausnitzer, cricketer: ‘I will be preparing some meals and going out to the seawalls and fly kites. Just looking forward to having fun with the family. We usually do this every year because you see a lot of people, the atmosphere is nice and the children enjoy it.’
Cassandra James, student: ‘I think I will be going to the seawalls with my cousin and fly kites. Other than that, I’ll just be passing the weekend quietly.’
Natalia Cranmore, overseas-based Guyanese: ‘I’m here for the entire weekend and I can’t wait for the Beenie Man show. One Easter day, there will be a lot of eating and I’ll be hanging with my family and friends. I came back because of the concerts. My friends have been asking me to come back and I work hard so I think I deserve it.’
Gaitri Nandan, private sector employee: ‘On Easter Monday I will be going to Hope Beach with my family. We usually go there every Easter and I would hang out with my family and friends.’
Anthony Mangru, public sector employee: ‘For the Easter, I’m planning on spending it with my family at the National Park. We’ll be flying kites, having a picnic and just enjoy the day. We usually do this every year but after spending time with the family I’ll be heading over to Joe Vieira Park
with my friends for the concert.’
Neville Butts, private sector employee: ‘I’ll be going to church on Friday and also on Sunday. I will probably take the wife out on Saturday because it’s back to work on Monday.’
Alex Culley, student: ‘During my Easter weekend, my team will be playing cricket at Ogle. After we win, we will be celebrating on Easter day. On Saturday night, we will be going to the Beenie Man show. Tomorrow is not just Good Friday but also my birthday, but I can’t do anything. On Monday, it’s either over to Joe Vieira Park or to the Peppa Party so I have a fun packed weekend planned.’
