ROME, (Reuters) – France and Italy want to reform the Schengen treaty and reinforce the European Union’s Frontex agency, France’s President Nicolas Sarkozy said today.
“We want Schengen to live, but for Schengen to live it must be reformed,” he told reporters in Rome.
The French president was speaking following a meeting with Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, aimed at easing tensions over North African immigration.
