The body of a man, who reportedly drowned at Itaballi, was brought to the city yesterday.
The incident, Stabroek News understands, occurred some time on Saturday afternoon. The closest developed community to Itaballi (Region Seven) is Bartica and the man, this newspaper learnt, was rushed to the hospital there by persons who hauled him from the water.
He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Bartica Hospital and is yet to be identified. The body was moved from Bartica yesterday and is currently at the Lyken’s Funeral Parlour.
A senior police source in E&F Division told Stabroek News that details of the incident are “very sketchy” at the moment. Police, according to the source, are investigating the matter and efforts are being made to identify the deceased.
