Gros Islet, St Lucia – West Indies captain Darren Sammy said his team needs to find a way to “win the tight situations”, if they are to bounce back against Pakistan in the five-match Digicel One-Day Series.
The Windies lost the 2nd Digicel ODI by seven wickets to slip to 0-2 in the series.
Batting first after being sent in, the homesters were dismissed for 220 off the last ball of the 50th over.
The visitors replied with 222-3 to win the encounter before a colourful and vocal at Beausejour on Easter Monday.
Opener Ahmed Shahzad topscored with 102, his second ODI century, to win the Man-of-the-Match award.
“We weren’t rolled over today. We kept ourselves in the match right to the finish. There were moments when things could have gone either way, but we didn’t make it happen. We have to find a make to make it happen for us. We have to find a way to win those tight situations. We have to win in Barbados to stay alive in the series, so we have to grab our chances.”
Sammy added: “It’s not out of our reach. We have been showing the fight. We have the belief that we can turn things around and make it happen.”
The Digicel Series switches to Barbados for the third and fourth Digicel ODIs at Kensington Oval tomorrow and Monday.
