Lennox Wayne, called ‘Two Colours,’ who was recently held by police for questioning, says that the police are harassing him to aid in the capture of “high-profile” criminals.
He is now seeking an audience with either the Commissioner of Police Henry Greene or the Crime Chief Seelall Persaud, saying that he has been approached to do something that he does not want to do.
Wayne was among a quartet for whom police last week Tuesday issued bulletins for, saying that they were wanted for questioning in relation to break and enter and larceny. Roger Bumbury, called ‘Don Dick,’ Kacy Da Silva, called ‘Presser,’ and Linton Steve Eastman were the three other men.
Wayne visited Stabroek News yesterday and said that he and Da Silva had turned themselves in to the police at Eve Leary last week Wednesday, when the bulletins appeared in the newspapers. He said that all he was told was that he was wanted for questioning in relation to break and enter and larceny and a robbery in 2006. No specific allegation in relation to break and enter and larceny was put to him and he explained that he was in prison in 2006 when the robbery allegedly occurred, he said.
After the brief questioning, he was thrown into the lock-ups. “They just throw me in the lock-up and never ask me anything back,” Wayne said. He remained there until Easter Monday, when he and Da Silva were released on $20,000 station bail each.
Wayne, who admitted to periods of imprisonment for criminal offences, said that at the present time he has no matter in the courts and the last one was dismissed. He said that he is known to the police and they see him everyday. According to Wayne, the bulletin is a way of pressuring him to do something for the police.
He explained that given his past, the police have approached him, asking him to work with them to apprehend “high-profile” criminals.
Wayne said that he wants an audience with the Commissioner of Police, the Crime Chief “or somebody” as he feels that he is being pressured to do something that he does not want to get involved in. He said that a specific officer is the one making the overtures, which are done in a subtle manner.
In relation to the other men in the bulletin, the police had said that Bumbury, 39, is of African descent, 5 feet 4 inches in height and his last known address was Lot 18 ‘E’ North Sophia, Greater Georgetown. Last March, Bumbury appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court and pleaded guilty to break and enter and larceny. He had broken into the Prashad Nagar storeroom of businessman Deoram Singh and stolen 17 items, valued at just over $5.3 million.
Eastman, police said, is also of African descent and is 18 years, is 5 feet 7 inches and his last known address is Lot 3530 Stevedore Housing Scheme, Georgetown.
