Seon Marshall, who along with Al Wilson was accused of the September 5, 2009 murder of Jamal Clarke, was yesterday discharged of the offence when he appeared before Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
Wilson was, however, committed to stand trial for the capital offence in the High Court.
Magistrate Lovell, in handing down her ruling, said that the prosecution had presented enough evidence to the court and a prima facie case had been made out against Wilson. As such, he was committed to stand trial in the High Court.
The presiding magistrate explained that the prosecution’s evidence against Marshall was not as strong and as a result he was discharged of the offence.
The ruling came as the preliminary inquiry (PI) into the matter ended.
The charge had stated that on September 5, 2009 at Norton Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, Marshall and Wilson murdered Clarke. They were not required to plead to the charge.
