Police said today that a suspect in a Montrose robbery was held in a canefield.
Police said that at about 1235h. today two men who were armed with handguns, entered the Lahogoo Supermarket at Montrose, ECD, under the pretext of purchasing a soft drink and held up the two female employees. They took away $80,000.00, a quantity of cell phone cards and two cell phones and escaped on foot, according to police release.
The police responded promptly to the report and with the help of some community policing members were able to apprehend a suspect in the canefields in the LBI, ECD, area, the release said. A .32 snub nose revolver with four rounds along with a sum of money were found in his possession.
The suspect is in police custody assisting with the investigations.
