Linden will look to defend their championship title at the 11th edition of the LinWest Games to be staged on May 7 by the New Guyana Sports Association of New York Inc. (NGANY) at the Uitvlugt Community Centre Ground, West Coast Demerara, commencing at 10:30 hours.
According to a press release, the event is an athletic competition for school-aged children in categories of under-13, under-15, under-18, and under-20 competing for teams representing Linden, West Demerara, East Bank Demerara, East Coast Demerara, West Berbice and East Berbice. These traditional teams are expected to be joined by Georgetown for the first time.
Already in Guyana for the event is President of the NGSANY, Richard Thompson and a number of his executives, some of whom are supporting the respective teams from the communities where they were born or resided prior to living in the United States.
Meanwhile the games have been sanctioned by the Athletics Association of Guyana (AAG) which has appointed Amanda Hermonstine as the Technical Delegate.
