Left out of the West Indies team so far for the Pakistan tour of the West Indies, the experienced West Indies pair of Ramnaresh Sarwan and Shivnarine Chanderpaul has been named in the Guyana team to oppose the touring Pakistan cricketers in their two day practice match next weekend.
The national selectors yesterday named both batsmen in a squad of 13 players for the May 8-9 game at the Georgetown Cricket Club ground, Bourda.
A surprise selection in the squad is former West Indies Under-19 opening batsman Trevon Griffith.
The Guyana team named read:Shemroy Barrington, Trevon Griffith, Ramnaresh Sarwan, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Assad Fudadin, Narsingh Deonarine, Derwin Christian, Amir Khan, Ronsford Beaton, Keon Joseph, Zaheer Mohammed, Gajanand Singh and Leon Johnson.
There are five stand by players named and they are Anthony Bramble, Andre Stoll, Paul Wintz, Richard Ramdeen and Steven Jacobs.
Chanderpaul and Sarwan along with former West Indies skipper and opening batsman Chris Gayle have not been included in the One Day series which the West Indies trail 0-3.
Gayle has left the Caribbean to fulfill his IPL obligations with the Royal Challengers Bangalore but there is a slight possibility that the two Guyanese might be included in the team for the fifth and final ODI at the Providence National Stadium.
The Pakistan team is expected to arrive in Guyana on Tuesday.
