Parmanand Ramdhan’s all-round play steered Blairmont Community Centre into the semi-finals of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Ricks & Sari Agro Industries Under-13 competition at the Cumberland ground recently.
According to a press release, Blairmont Community Centre defeated Young Warriors of Cumberland on first innings points in their drawn quarter-final to earn a semi-final berth.
Young Warriors, who were asked to bat first after losing the toss, were dismissed for a paltry 84 in their first innings with Adrian Persaud scoring 17, the only double digit score. Bowling for Blairmont, off spinner Akeem Miller took 3 for 15, and left arm spinner Ramdhan 2 for 16.
In reply Blairmont Community Centre soon slipped to 30 for 3 before Ramdhan kept the innings together with a fine half century.
He slammed 91 which contained 13 fours and two sixes which helped Blairmont to crucial first innings honours after being dismissed for 148.
Akeem Miller scored 15 as Desmond Griffith took 3 for 39 for Young Warriors.
Young Warriors, facing a first innings deficit of 57 runs, batted a second time were 163 for 3 with Berbice Under-15 batsman Shimron Hetmyer on 62 with support from Kassim Khan 35 at the end.
