Haynes Foundation makes significant donations

The overseas-based Haynes Foundation made two significant donations to Youth Basketball Guyana (YBG) and Robert Cadogan’s After School Basketball Programme recently.

The foundation donated 20 basketballs to Cadogan’s programme while doing a bit more for the YBG teams that will be participating in the annual Inter Guiana Games Basketball Championship.

The YBG received 200 Wrist Bands, 24 T-shirts, 12 Basketball Uniforms (male and female), four Basketball DVDs, 30 bandages, 400 condoms, three sneakers and 40 practice jerseys.

President of the Haynes Foundation, Paul Haynes, said:“we are committed to positive youth basketball programmes in Guyana and have reconfirmed this with timely donations towards the training of the junior male and female national teams.

“We are confident that Guyana will continue to produce quality performances at the IGG in their efforts of bringing back the gold medal this year,” he added.

Haynes also stated: “It is imperative that we start teaching the game of basketball at a very early age as it instills fundamentals, discipline and team building. The Haynes Foundation fully supports the efforts of

Robert Cadogan’s After School programme as he is in line with our vision for producing well rounded citizens of Guyana.

“It is important to educate the players of all the options available to them so their parents can make informed decisions of the children’s future. The Haynes Foundation will not fund, sponsor or endorse basketball programmes that jeopardize the future of our young players,” the president further noted.
