Lenpasco Corlette, an employee of COPS Guyana Limited, died last evening after he was struck by a vehicle close to his home at Vigilance, East Coast Demerara.
Corlette, 30, of the Vigilance Squatting area, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH). A police source noted that the driver of the vehicle was later taken into custody.
According to reports, Corlette was walking along the public road close to his home when he was struck down by a vehicle. A relative said she was at home when she heard a screeching sound on the roadway, followed by a loud impact. When she ventured out to the scene, Corlette’s motionless body lay on the
road while attempts were made to take him to seek medical treatment.
Noting that the area was dark at the time, the relative said that Corlette was placed in a passing police vehicle and transported to the hospital. He sustained mainly injuries to the upper torso.
According to the relative, Corlette had been working at the security service for sometime.
