Lodge Secondary School romped to a scintillating victory against Tutorial High School when the inaugural ScotiaBank/Pepsi Schools Football Academy continued yesterday with two matches at the National Insurance Scheme (NIS) Ground.
Led by a Nevon Haynes hat-trick Lodge inflicted a 8 – 1 beating on their opponents in the opening match of the day before East Ruimveldt Secondary was able to secure a come-from-behind 2-1 win over North Georgetown Secondary School.
In the Lodge/Tutorial battle Haynes drew first blood when he scored in the 14th minute then his team mates Kareem Johnson and Mike Thorn pitched in with goals in the 19th and 23rd minutes before he (Haynes) second his second goal in the 26th minute.
Thorn completed a brace in the 33rd minute to take Lodge ahead by five goals at the half time whistle.
When the second half resumed Haynes completed his hat-trick in the second minute (36th) while Kareem Sammojn and Stephen McLean accounted for the other two Lodge goals scored in the 56th and 70th minute.
Keyron Sampson scored the lone goal for Tutorial in the 65th minute
Following that game, East Ruimveldt and North Georgetown then battled to a close encounter that saw Liberia’s Tiatum Tiatum scoring for North G/T in the 20th minute, a goal which kept them in the lead for the entire first half.
In the second half Azarial Davis scored the equalizer in the 50th minute for East R/veldt then Jamal Pedro gained the lead for them in the 64th minute to give them the upper hand on their way to victory.
