Security guard Eon Davidson, the father of eight who was rushed to the Georgetown Public Hospital with a severe stab wound to the neck on Sunday night, was recovering from the incident yesterday following a successful surgery.
The 49-year-old security guard was taken to the hospital with the handle of a 6-inch long kitchen knife protruding from the back of his neck after he was stabbed while attempting to part two persons who were engaged in a heated argument close to his home at Lot 60 East La Penitence in the city.
The man told this newspaper from his hospital bed yesterday at the GPH that he was sitting down with a neighbour when another neighbour and his partner began to argue.
He said the argument continued and developed into a fight and he got up to part the two warring factions. He said that during the melee, the man’s wife fired a stab at him, but according to Davidson, he was struck instead by the weapon on his right shoulder.
He said the woman struck him again but this time the knife penetrated his neck and became stuck. The man said the woman claimed that she accidentally stabbed him but he said that she had lunged the knife at him more than once.
According to his sister-in-law Mary Lam, Davidson was recovering well from the incident. She said the doctors managed to remove the instrument from his neck some time around midnight on Sunday. She said that Davidson, who was walking around the hospital ward in high spirits yesterday, may be discharged soon from the medical institution.
The incident was reported to the East La Penitence Police Station and according to reports, police were expected to institute charges against the perpetrator.
