WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – Foreign aid, education and health programs would faced the steepest spending cuts in the coming fiscal year under a spending plan released by Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives on Wednesday.
The document, which outlines broad spending levels for the government programs which are funded by Congress each year, calls for an 18 percent cut to the State Department and foreign-aid operations.
The Defense Depart-ment would see its budget rise by roughly 3 percent.
