Scottsburg United of Corriverton defeated Blairmont on first innings points last Sunday at the Blairmont Community Centre Ground to book their spot in the final of the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB)/Ricks and Sari Agro Industries Under-13 cricket competition.
Scottsburg were led to the upset victory against the home team by their talented captain Deon Esuan who performed well with both bat and ball. Opting to bat after winning the toss, Scottsburg were restricted to 101 all out in 34.4 overs with Esuan 22, Robin Roopchand 25, Yusuf Nicholson 19 and Aslim Baksh 12 being the principal scorers.
Bowling for Blairmont, Akeem Miller took 5 wickets for 35 runs and Parmanand Ramdhan 4 for 36 off 15 overs.
In reply Blairmont fared worse than the visitors at the crease and were dismissed for a meager 66 in 24 overs with only Avishkar Rabindranauth 23 and Shoaib Isahack 12 reaching double figures, while Deon Esuan 6-0-12-4, Mohamed Deochand 5-1-16-2 and Shamnarine Seenauth 2-0-4-2 bowled well for Scottsburg United.
Batting a second time with a first innings lead of 35, Scottsburg United reached 66 for 6 in their second innings off 26 overs when the match was called off.
Scottburgs’ Mohamed Deochand top scored with 16 while Ramdhan 3 for 26 and Miller 3 for 32 again bowled well for Blairmont.
Scottsburg United will now clash with Tucber Park in the final on Sunday at the Albion Community Centre Ground.
