(Barbados Nation) Reverend Guy Hewitt has been fired by the Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC).
However, this may not be the end of the line for the Anglican cleric since the matter is now engaging Government’s attention.
“I have informed Government of the situation and also referred the matter to a Queen’s Counsel. That is all I can say at the moment,” Hewitt told the WEEKEND NATION yesterday.
As director of corporate strategy and business development, Hewitt was the third ranking executive at the Lower Collymore Rock, St Michael-based institution at which he has worked since 2003.
Yesterday, Minister of Education Ronald Jones confirmed that the matter was “engaging my intention”.
Hewitt, who is also chairman of the board at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH), had a contract that would end in March next year.
The reasons for the sudden termination of the contract were not immediately clear.
When contacted, Didacus Jules, registrar at the CXC, would only say: “All I can confirm is that Mr Hewitt is no longer with us.”
