One of the three Jamaicans, who were on Monday arrested along with two Guyanese in a Cummings Lodge raid, today appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrates’ Court and was remanded on two charges.
The first allegation against Teckle Ellis (no address given) is that on May 9, at Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara, he had in his possession eight live rounds of .45 ammunition and seventeen .38 rounds, without being the holder of a licence. The second charge read that on the same day, in the same vicinity, he had in his possession one .45 Glock Pistol, without being the holder of a firearm licence at the time. The 34-year-old pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him by Magistrate Judy Latchman.
On the prosecution’s objection to bail, the accused was remanded to prison until June 10.
