(De Ware Tijd) PARAMARIBO – In a letter, President Desi Bouterse has asked Justice and Police Minister Martin Misiedjan to investigate crime scenarios in which convicts and former convicts allegedly commit serious crimes under orders from third parties. The President implied this in Parliament this week. The investigation comes in the wake of questions by Parliamentarian André Misiekaba (MC/NDP) about allegations that some convicts are released intentionally to commit violent crimes as part of a scenario to ‘destabilize’ the government. Misiekaba tells DWT that he is awaiting the results of this investigation.
