(Trinidad Express) Energy company BHP Billiton announced on Thursday it has produced first gas from the Angostura Gas Project offshore Trinidad and Tobago.
The new gas export platform has a design capacity of 280 million cubic feet of gas per day and is located alongside the company’s existing facilities within the Greater Angostura Field.
The project was delivered on schedule and budget, BHP Billiton said in a statement on its website.
BHP Billiton Petroleum chief executive J Michael Yeager said that the Angostura Gas development was the fifth operated project BHP Billiton Petroleum has successfully executed in three years, following two tension-leg platforms in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico and two floating production storage and offloading facilities offshore Western Australia.
“The Angostura Gas Project is an important addition to our portfolio. It will triple production at our Trinidad and Tobago business over the next year.
This is another example of our organisation’s ability to achieve success in a range of environments by safely delivering a project that builds upon our overall business,” he said. The development also includes modifications made to the existing Angostura facilities and the installation of new flow lines.
