West Indies newest test debutant Devendra Bishoo continued to impress with the ball delivering a sterling performance which he thought was good but also disappointing because his parents and manager were not present to witness. The right handed leg spinner bagged 4 – 68 from 25 overs as West Indies dismissed Pakistan for 160 in their first innings the second day in reply to West Indies first innings total of 226.
Windies, in their second innings, were 34-2, an overall lead of 100 runs going into day three with eight wickets in hand.
Speaking on his performance he said: “I enjoyed it. I had a lot of support from the players, the captain and the rest of the players like Shiv, Kemar, Ravi and everybody and it was nice performing in Guyana, my home.”
The 25-year-old stated that he felt no pressure entering the match under the scope of performing as well as he did in the One-Day Series.
“I just stuck to the list of the normal things I do and varied my pace as much as possible and just go and work hard at my cricket and it is paying so I will continue working hard on my game.”
Producing consistent top of the line performances would be any cricketer’s dream and Bishoo seems to be comfortably living that dream to the fullest.
He stated: “well the feeling is great. A lot of people would love to play for the West Indies and playing for the West Indies is a remarkable thing and I enjoy every second of it as I play and love every moment of it.
Bishoo has played 21 first class matches claiming 86 wickets at an average just above 27.
He feels the West Indies might just have a good chance of winning the test.
“We are in a good position, we just got to go and bat and get a good total and then bowl them out at the end of the day.”
