Seven-year-old Althea Clement, who died on Sunday evening, after she and her father were struck down by a car in a hit and run on the Wales Public Road will be buried on Tuesday, May 17. Her father, Cedric Clement, 50, who suffered a severed finger and a broken leg, among other injuries as a result of the accident, is scheduled to be released from the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) on Monday, May 16.
When Stabroek News visited the GPH Clement related that he is feeling much better and will be able to complete the preparations for the burial of his daughter. On the day after he was admitted to the hospital, Clement had said that he didn’t want his daughter buried without him being there.
The father and daughter were struck down by a speeding car while they were heading home from work and school. The driver, who is known to Clement, has since been released on bail.
According to Clement, the driver’s entire family including his father, have been visiting him in the hospital, and they have decided to settle the matter.
