Ranwattie Rabindranauth, known as “Shirley,” was yesterday fined $25,000 by Magistrate Fabayo Azore for making a false report to police that her neighbour assaulted her.
Police Corporal Roberto Figuiera told the Whim Magistrates’ Court that on November 9, 2010, Rabindranauth reported to Corporal Whyte, the Subordinate Officer of Whim Police Station, that her neighbour, Tamishwar, hit her about her body with a piece of wood.
However, following the report, the investigating officers were told by residents that they were unaware of such an incident. Further, it was discovered that Tamishwar, at the time the alleged assault took place, had been weeding the compound of the Whim Police Station.
