$68.5M contract approved for Supreme Court registry’s electronic file system

Cabinet has cleared a US$336,355 (equivalent to $68.5M) contract for the development of a File Document Management System for the Supreme Court Registry which will see the records and proceedings in the High Court being done electronically.

The upgrade is a part of a continuing project to modernise the operations in the Justice Sector, Cabinet Secretary, Dr. Roger Luncheon said yesterday.

Speaking at his weekly post-Cabinet press briefing about the contracts which were cleared, he said that the Diamond Primary School is to be constructed at Grove, East Bank Demerara at the cost of $128.9M.

In the agricultural sector, government will rehabilitate the Biological Control Laboratory to the tune of $30.7M and will procure two reconditioned track-type bulldozers at the cost of $89.01M.

Roads at Cornelia Ida, West Coast Demerara are to be upgraded and a contract was cleared for $24.3M in the Housing and Water sector.

In addition, $29.8M was approved for the procurement of office furniture and equipment for the Ministry of Health.

Further, in Local Government, a dormitory is to be constructed at Port Kaituma Secondary School, Region One at the cost of $18.01M.
