Parents of students attending the Paradise Primary School paused their protest yesterday after the constant rainfall.
Shellon London, one of the parents fighting for better school conditions for the children of the East Coast village, told Stabroek News that she was unable to continue the protest as planned due to the persistent rainfall. However, she, along with the other parents, is hoping for better weather conditions so that their protest can be continued as planned.
When asked if there were any signs of construction work being done on the school, London said not as yet. She added that parents are anxiously awaiting the feedback from teachers who had visited the Education Ministry on Tuesday last.
Further efforts were made by this newspaper to contact the Regional Administration of Region 4 but proved to be futile.
Parents are expressing concerns for the well-being of their children and are urging the necessary authorities to take action with regards to the infrastructural development and also to address insanitary conditions.
