Robbery with violence accused put on two-year bond

A young man accused of robbing a young woman of her cell phone and gold ring was yesterday placed on a bond to keep the peace and the matter against him was  dismissed after the virtual complainant told the court that she did not want to offer evidence against him.

The allegation against Shawn Henry was that on May 14 at Georgetown, he robbed Neisha Blair of one cell phone and a gold ring valued $85,000, property of the said Blair. Henry is also accused of using personal violence against the said Neisha Blair.

The defendant denied the charge of robbery with violence when it was read to him by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

When asked by the magistrate if she had any reason for not wanting to offer evidence against the accused, Blair said no. From the witness box, she indicated however that her decision was not conceived out of fear,  neither was she made any promises.

No details of what transpired on the day in question were given to the court by the prosecution. Police Corporal Venetta Pindar reported that the items were recovered.

After informing the parties that the matter was dismissed, Magistrate Lovell placed Henry on a bond to keep the peace for two years.
