Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon said yesterday that the health situation of Police Commissioner Henry Greene is a private matter and in that regard the administration cannot intrude on his privacy.
Dr. Luncheon was at the time responding to questions about Greene’s current health status and the arrangements in place to run his office in his absence.
He told reporters “if he didn’t offer that kind of information (on his condition), that’s it! We don’t assume any responsibility in crossing that threshold”. He later said that while Greene has been conducting some of his functions from his hospital bed, a senior officer who has already been identified in the media has been “holding the fort”.
Since Greene took ill more than a week ago, no information has been made public on his condition. Home Affairs Minister Clement Rohee last Saturday when contacted refused to answer questions on Greene’s condition saying that this newspaper should make contact with the hospital.
Meanwhile, this newspaper understands that Greene was released from the hospital on Tuesday and is at home resting.
A senior police officer yesterday confirmed that Greene has been released from hospital adding that the Commissioner is 100% better.
Greene was rushed to a private city hospital after a vein ruptured in one of his legs. Later he was admitted to the Intensive Care unit after complications arose after two surgeries; one for the ruptured vein and another on his digestive tract.
Several days later he was moved to a private room, after his condition improved.
