The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has shortlisted 18 male players and 11 female players to prepare for possible selection on the respective teams for the upcoming annual Caribbean championship to be held here.
The championships are scheduled for August 12 to 20 at the Cliff Anderson Sport Hall.
Notable omission is currently national men’s singles champion Godfrey Munroe.
The players shortlisted are:- Paul David, Idi Lewis, Christopher Franklin, Jonathan Sankar, Edinho Lewis, Paul Meusa, Orin Hickerson, Colin France, Joel Alleyne, Hewley Griffith, Nigel Bryan, Brandon Belle, Brad Belle, Gibran Hussein-Safaraz, Sherwin Sahadeo Warren Hackshaw, Steffan Barrow and Denzel Hopkinson.
The female players shortlisted are:-Trenace Lowe, Michelle John, Natalie Cummings, Jody Ann Blake, Ambrose Thomas, Akecia Nedd, Desiree Lancaster, Chelsea Edghill, Mellissa Richardson, Adielle Rosheuvel and Rhonda Farley.
Some of the countries expecting to take part are Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Santo Domingo, St. Kitts and St Lucia.
National coach Linden Johnson is expected to meet with the players shortlisted this week in order to streamline the training and other details in preparation of the championship.
