President of the Lusignan Golf Club, Brian Hackett, had an early Father’s Day present when he carted off the inaugural Budget Super Centre Medal Play golf tournament Saturday at the club’s, East Coast Demerara course.
Hackett edged out Kishun Bacchus on a count back in a closely contested tournament.
Hackett shot a net 67 to squeeze past Bacchus who also shot the same score.
Mohanlall “Santo” Dinanauth finished third with net 70. He also had the best gross of 74.
Canada-based Guyanese David Persaud, who is visiting ahead of this weekend’s Canam tournament, to be sponsored by the Canadian Chapter of the Lusignan golf Club, was Nearest to the Pin.
Managing Director of Budget Super Centre, Chaman Basdeo, made the presentation to the outstanding players.
He expressed gratitude to officials of the club for affording him the opportunity to sponsor last weekend’s tournament. Lusignan Golf Club Secretary, William Walker, also thanked Basdeo for coming on board and sponsoring the tournament.
Walker said that the club was looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership with the Budget Store.
