Leroy Hopkinson was on Tuesday charged with assaulting a woman who refused his request for a dance at a party.
Hopkinson was placed on $25,000 bail by Magistrate Hazel Octive– Hamilton, at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that he committed the assault on Melissa McGregor on June 18, at Croal Street.
According to the facts presented by Police Prosecutor Corporal Venetta Pindar, on the day in question Hopkinson and McGregor were at a party and he asked her for a dance. She, however, refused.
As a result, the court heard that Hopkinson became annoyed and slapped McGregor. A report was made and he was arrested and charged.
The matter will be called again on June 27.
