The teen whose remains were pulled from a creek on the Linden/Soesdyke Highway two days after he went missing, died by drowning a post-mortem examination (PME) yesterday revealed.
The PME was performed on Kevin Poulis at the Georgetown Hospital morgue by government pathologist Dr Nehaul Singh.
According to the teen’s mother Melinda Seales they were also told that blunt trauma contributed to his death but no explanation of this was given. Poulis called `Gobbie’ who was a student of the South Ruimveldt Secondary School will be buried on Monday.
The 14-year-old left his home at Guyhoc Park shortly after lunch on Sunday with relatives and friends for an outing at the Aziza Akousa. He disappeared about two hours after arriving at the creek.
Poulis’ friend, Leyland Edwards, had recounted that they along with another friend were playing ball in the creek and then decided to come out of the water.
He said they were relaxing when his mother asked if they wanted food and after responding in the negative they returned to the water.
Seales had told this newspaper that she was suspicious because of the various accounts she was receiving. According to her, one of two persons who police had held told her that Poulis came out of the water and gave her his expensive shoes to keep before heading to the road. No one reported seeing him going back into the creek.
