(Jamaica Observer) Investigators from the Major Investigation Task Force (MIT) are still processing the crime scene in Queens Way, St Andrew, where 66-year-old businessman Roderick ‘Bunny’ Francis was shot dead this morning.
According to cops on the scene, men posing as if their vehicle had broken down in the area ambushed Francis and other members of his family as they exited their home shortly after 10:00 am.
The men fired a barrage of shots at the group reportedly hitting Francis in the back before they escaped.
Francis was taken to the nearby St Andrew’s Memorial Hospital where he died.
More than two dozen of Francis’ relatives, friends, employees, and colleagues visited the emergency entrance at the hospital inquiring about his condition. They cried openly when they heard that he had died.
Francis, the managing director of B&D Trawling Limited, was a well known figure in the local fishing industry.
The Half-Way-Tree Police are investigating.
