The inaugural Scotiabank/Pepsi Schools Football Academy wraps up today with what is expected to be a terrific day of football with the finals in the male and female categories being contested at the Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC) Ground.
Action gets underway at 2pm with the girls of East Ruimveldt going head to head with North Georgetown, then immediately after the boys final will kick off between Tucville and East Ruimveldt.
On Wednesday in what could be dubbed as the most exciting female game played to date which was contested at the Carifesta Sports Complex Ground, East Ruimveldt Secondary outplayed Tucville in the semi-final round to advance.
At the conclusion of the 60-minute game and 10 minutes of extra time, the teams were tied at nil all and that took the showdown into a penalty shootout where the eventual victors prevailed 2 – 1 after both teams had four attempts each.
Meanwhile, awards to be handed out at the conclusion of the event include the League Championship, Scholastic Award, League All-Star Award, Tournament Championship, Special Award, League MVP and Coach-of-the-Year.
