Barbadian based Guyanese Revlon Lake exacted his revenge on Mark Austin to claim the local lightweight title when the Guyana Boxing Board of Control (GBBC) hosted another edition of its Pro-Am Boxing Card.
The ‘Friday Night Fights’ card saw Lake excelling when it mattered the most to capture the vacant belt.
Austin was stopped at 1:37s of the 11th round to give Lake his revenge after he had lost to Austin in an earlier edition of the ‘FNF’.
Lake had his unblemished record toggled by Austin when he lost their four-round encounter.
In the professional middleweight bout, Simeon Hardy came out throwing accurate power punches that surprised Eversley Browne who had no answer for the “punches in bunches.”
Browne found himself on the canvas in under a minute and received the eight-count before the referee called off the bout.
The catch-weight bout between Joel McRae and ‘Deadly’ Denny Dalton saw the latter suffering yet another defeat in a career that seems to be spiraling downhill rapidly.
Dalton’s recent performances have been far less than impressive as he has not been able to live up to his reputation of unleashing effective power punches to stop his opponents.
Meanwhile, Ray Sandiford recorded his second professional victory to make it two-for-two when he gained a unanimous decision over Orlando `Pocket Rocket’ Rogers in their four-round encounter.
Sandiford made his professional debut less than a month ago at the ‘Rampage’ card where he scored an impressive win over Cecil Smith.
There were also four amateur bouts earlier in the night that opened the boxing fans’ appetite for the bigger bouts. (Kizan Brumell)
