A man accused of stealing a quantity of steel rods from his employer was yesterday admitted to bail in the sum of $100,000 by acting Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
It is alleged that on June 24, at Georgetown, being employed as a clerk or servant with Dalip Trading, Christopher Chung stole 200 steel rods valued$160,000. The items were property of Dalip Trading.
Chung, who resides at 47 Second Street, La Penitence, denied the charge of larceny by clerk or servant when it was read to him.
In presenting the facts of the case, Police Sergeant Vishnu Hunt said that on the day in question, the accused was seen loading the articles onto a cart. After being approached by the supervisor and asked to produce a bill for the items, he was unable to do so.
The case was transferred to Court Three.
