The Rose Hall Town Youth & Sports Club (RHTY&SC) will be hosting its 5th annual Republic Bank summer classes at its Head Office from July 11.
Club Secretary/CEO, Hilbert Foster disclosed that the Summer Classes will last for six weeks, catering for sixty Grade 6 students who will be attending secondary school for the first time in September.
According to a press release, the programme will be conducted by Rohan Etwaru of the Port Mourant Secondary School.
The classes are aimed at assisting the students to make a successful transition from primary to secondary school, to promote the ‘Say No to Drugs and Yes to Education’ message and to promote sports as an alternative to a life on the road.
Foster also revealed that the students will be taught Mathematics, English, Integrated Science and Social Studies and will also be involved in several lectures on topics of importance to them.
The students would also be exposed to basic coaching in several sporting disciplines, including cricket, basketball and volleyball, the release noted.
