A man who allegedly snatched a woman’s Blackberry phone on Regent Street was yesterday remanded by acting Chief Magi-strate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court on a simple larceny charge.
Emanuel Gregory of 10 East La Penitence, Georgetown, was accused of stealing one Blackberry phone valued at $80,000 from Juliana Kanhai on June 24. He pleaded not guilty.
The court was told that the virtual complainant was walking along Regent Street when the accused approached her and snatched the phone. He then ran off but was chased by police who subsequently apprehended him. The accused was told of the offence and charged.
The man was refused bail and is due to return to court on July 5 when statements will be served.
