(Barbados Nation) Airlines using Grantley Adams International Airport have been asked to brace for delays as civil aviation personnel resort to non-radar emergency procedures to work around a cable problem.
Director of Civil Aviation Tony Archer, who retired on his birthday yesterday after spending 48 years in the field, told the WEEKEND NATION that while he could not say when “we would fully regain control of the radar”, a “cable was causing the problem between the feed and the radar to the tower”.
He said it was normal to experience delays when using “non-radar procedural control”, which a source at the airport said had been the result over the last few days.
