The Guyana national U-15 team departed the country Thursday for Trinidad and Tobago where they will compete in the regional U-15 tournament organized by the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB).
The team was hosted by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) on Wednesday evening at a dinner event at the Wind Jammer Hotel in Queens Street Kitty.
Guyana Cricket Board’s Public Relations Officer, Terry Holder, was the Master of Ceremony and among the invited guests were Director of Sport, Neil Kumar, various Guyana Cricket Board representatives including GCB President Chetram Singh, Vice President Bissoondial Singh, Senior selector Claude Rafael, Assistant Secretary Ronald Williams, Cricket Development Officer Reon King and the three (3) selectors who selected the squad, Michael Hyles, Fizul Bacchus and Nizul Drepaul.
Also present were some of the parents of the players.
Coach Adrian Amsterdam expressed confidence in his team’s chances following the preparation which included a stay at the GCB’s hostel at the La Bonne Intention complex over the last few weeks.
The team will begin its campaign today, in the opening game of the competition against host Trinidad.
The tournament ends on July 15.
